Spencer, IA (Northwestiowanow.com) — Figures released from the Clay County Fair indicate visitors spent over 3.4 million dollars on food, beverages, carnival rides, and specialty concessions.

Official attendance was 316 thousand, 242, and CEO Jason Brockshus says on average each individual spent ten dollars and 76 cents on those items.

The cash registers also indicated spending is going up on weekdays – traditionally slower days at the fair.

Sales were up 4 percent both Monday and Tuesday, and a whopping 23 percent on Wednesday. And nearly a third of spending on food and beverages is at local, non-profit booths.

The study is for food, drink, specialty concessions, and carnival rides only. It does not take into account how much visitors spent shopping at the 2025 Clay County Fair.
