Sioux City, IA (KICD)– A Cherokee woman is going to prison on a conviction in a federal drug conspiracy case.
50-year-old Christina Gianopoulos-Rohrer pled guilty last March to playing a role in a scheme to distribute at least six kilograms of methamphetamine over a multiple year span from December 2019 through May 2022.
Gianopoulos-Rohrer further admitted in court that she was involved in obtaining four pounds of the drug from sources in other states and bringing it back to Cherokee for further distribution.
Judge Leonard T. Strand gave Gianopoulos-Rohrer nearly four years in prison on Thursday followed by three years of supervised release. She remains in the custody of the United States Marshals until she can be transferred to a federal facility.
