SPENCER, IA (Northwestiowanow) — Blue Rose Ensemble and SCT Spare Change Theatre are bringing a Tennessee Williams classic to a unique local stage next month with The Glass Menagerie at Gary’s on the River.
Presented in collaboration with Spencer Community Theatre, the production runs Friday, May 8 through Sunday, May 10, with all performances beginning at 7:30 p.m. The show is produced and directed by Spencer native Kyle Goecken.
Goecken says the idea grew out of a renewed appreciation for Williams’ work and a desire to bring one of his most iconic plays back to Spencer.
While there have been performances at Gary’s on the River in the past, Goecken notes this will be the first theatrical production at the venue in nearly four years. Rehearsals recently transitioned from the Spencer Community Theatre space to the riverfront location as the cast began adapting to the intimate setting.
The cast includes Levi Rees, Amanda Green, Nat Kroll, and Travis Roh. Roh portrays Jim O’Connor, often referred to as the “gentleman caller” whose arrival plays a pivotal role in the story.
Amanda Green takes on the role of Amanda Wingfield, describing it as one of the most demanding and complex roles she has tackled in her career
Tickets for The Glass Menagerie are available through the Spencer Community Theatre box office by calling 712-262-7336, or online. All performances are reserved seating, and audiences are encouraged to purchase tickets in advance due to the limited capacity of the venue
