Spirit Lake, IA (KICD) — The Dickinson County Emergency Management Commission has voted to lower the speed limits on ALL Dickinson County lakes to 5 miles per hour until the flood waters recede. Emergency Management Coordinator Mike Ehret says they have that right under state law.
The Commission enacted the restriction even though the lake is not up to the level that typically triggers the restriction.
The Commission voted ten to zero for the emergency speed limit. And they intend to sign a letter to the DNR at Friday’s meeting seeking quick action on the Lower Gar Outlet that’s being blamed on some of the backup.
