Spencer, IA (KICD) — The Public Works Director for Spencer says flood water is receding to the point that some pressure is being taken off of the sanitary sewer system. Mark White appeared on KICD this morning along with Mayor Steve Bomgaars.
White points out that any sewage that gets flushed will go directly into the river, because the treatment plant has been down since Saturday.

Spencer, like many other communities, are suffering because of clean water being purposely pumped into the sanitary sewers.
Miraculously the drinking water supply in Spencer was unaffected over the weekend, but Mayor Bomgaars got this text from Spencer Municipal Utilities just as he was going live on KICD.
The city of Spencer will give a live update every morning at 10:30 here on the Spencer Radio Group until further notice.
There is still no official word on the whereabouts of a motorist whose car was submerged over the weekend. Fire Chief Jesse Coulson said Sunday that to the city’s knowledge no other individuals are unaccounted for.
