Spencer, IA (KICD) — Clay County officials are expressing their thanks to the Dickinson County board of supervisors for taking downstream residents into account in discussions about bringing the level of the Iowa Great Lakes down.
Docks, hoists, and boats have been damaged; shoreline has caved in; and boat rentals and resorts have been hurt economically. That prompted a special meeting Saturday between the Dickinson County Emergency Management Commission and Dickinson County Supervisors to consider cutting the road at the lower end of the Okoboji chain to help abate the flood.
Supervisors, though, said they would NOT take action that would exacerbate the problem downstream, and would form a committee that includes representation from Clay County.
Clay County Supervisor Allen Batschelet expressed his appreciation on Sunday’s Flood update here on KICD.
