Spencer City Council

Spencer, IA (KICD) — After a month of consideration, the Spencer city council has voted to enter into a one year contract with the business recruitment firm called “The Retail Coach.” The contract is for 20 thousand dollars with another 5 thousand dollars for expenses. Councilman Bill Orrison pointed out to the public that Spencer Municipal Utilities has agreed to pay half of each bill.

The council approved the nearly 3 million dollar East side seperation construction project last night. Councilmembers asked why local contractors were not allowed to bid. Engineering consultant Jim Thiese said the DOT controlled the project since they’re chipping in some of the financing.

And on another park and rec note, the Spencer city council approved a renewal of the 16 thousand dollar yearly contract for Carrico Aquatics of Oelwein to ensure the aquatic center meets engineering and water quality codes for the upcoming season.
