Spirit Lake, IA (KICD)– Jury selection continued Friday morning in a Dickinson County sexual abuse case against a former bus driver for the Okoboji School District paving the way for testimony to potentially begin before the week is out.

Steven Titterington was charged last February with third degree sexual abuse, sexual exploitation by a school employee and child endangerment after police were notified of a possible incident having taken place with a student more than a year earlier. The child endangerment charge has been dismissed by the court with Titterington pleading not guilty to the other two charges.

Prosecuting attorney Andrew Prosser with the Iowa Attorney General’s Office spent all of Tuesday questioning the pool of potential jurors before the process was halted for two days due to weather. The defense, led by Chris Sandy, was able to start asking questions of the juror pool Friday morning and indicated the main defense in the case will be that the alleged victim is lying. The now a 16-year-old girl is expected to take the stand during testimony for the prosecution.

Testimony in the case is expected to take four to five days before it will be turned over to the jury for a verdict.
