Northwest Iowa (KICD)– Success is being reported in special election votes for two local school organizations.
Voters in the South O’Brien school district went to the polls on Tuesday to decide whether or not to approve a bond referendum that would allow the schools to make some renovations to the current facility in Paullina.
The nearly 26 million dollar issue passed with 676 ballots cast being in favor which is good for 61.8 percent. Three O’Brien County voting precincts were involved in the vote with those in Paullina and Primghar voting in favor of the measure while those in Sutherland narrowly defeated it by a six vote margin.
Then in Emmet County, the North Union School District had two questions up for vote, one being the district’s Revenue Statement involving how to spend proceeds from the one cent local option sales tax along with a renewal on the Physical Plant and Equipment Levy. Both measures were approved with more than 90 percent of ballots saying yes.
Both sets of results will remain unofficial until formally canvassed by the respective Boards of Supervisors.
