Alta, Ia (KICD) – Alta-Aurelia hosted their Cross-Country meet on Monday.
In the Girls race, Nora Peterson finished 1st at 18:46.86 for Alta-Aurelia. Sioux Central’s Linnea Bloom was 4th at 20:23.4. Hayden Berkland and Breyer Anderson went 5th at 21:08.88 and 6th for Alta-Aurelia at 21:36.06 respectively. Mareni Brabec of Newell-Fonda took 7th at 21:36.06, followed by Cherokee’s Grace Woodall in 8th at 21:38.52 and Sibley-Ocheyedan’s Amadelaid Benitez in 9th at 21:39.61.
Cherokee would take advantage of the big gap between Alta-Aurelia’s 3 and 4 runners and tie with the Warriors for 1st. The Braves would win the 6th runner tiebreaker at 15 – 19. Sioux Central was 3rd at 63 points, MMCRU would finish 6th.
The Boys race was won by Manson-Northwest Webster’s Thatcher Oswald at 17:04.13. Sioux Central’s Lucos Wernimont took 2nd at 17:05.37. Alta-Aurelia’s Jacob Launderville was 4th at 17:38.15. Leighton Sippel of Sioux Central would take 8th at 18:10.51.
Sioux Central claimed the team title with 61 points. Cherokee was 3rd at 116, Sibley-Ocheyedan 6th at 160, Alta-Aurelia 7th, MMCRU 9th, Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn 10th, Newell-Fonda 12th, and South O’Brien finished 13th.
