Spencer, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – It looks to be another highly competitive year in the Siouxland Conference for Girls Basketball this season.

There is a decent amount of turnover from last season’s top teams, but Okoboji Girls Basketball coach Dalton Perrin says there are some teams from the middle of the standings that are ready to fill those top slots.

Defending Champions Central Lyon graduated 3 of their top 5 scorers. MOC-Floyd Valley took 3rd and lose a lot of offensive production but do bring back leading scorer Ady Jeltema.

Sioux Center may be the early favorite with their top 4 scorers back but as Coach Perrin said, West Lyon and Rock Valley both have a lot of talent in their rosters.

Okoboji finished 5-11 in the Siouxland last year with an overall record of 7-15. Perrin talked about some of the key athletes the Pioneers bring back from last season’s group.

Okoboji opens up with a host of Siouxland foes that will present a tough early part of the calendar, as well as some higher ranked non-conference opponents.

Sheldon struggled in 2023-2024, going 0-16 and 0-20. The still pretty young Orabs will try to improve on that mark in 2024-2025, bringing back their entire roster from last season.

You will be able to hear Siouxland Conference Basketball games throughout the season as part of Big Country 107.7’s regional basketball broadcasts.
