Spencer, IA (Northwest Iowa Now)- Earlier this week Governor Kim Reynolds announced that the state Disaster Recovery Housing Grant Program has awarded more than $7,000,000 dollars for construction of new housing for communities affected by flooding.
Stellence Development group applied for the grant to construct a new 24 apartment complex in Spencer. Drew Hage with Stellence says they were in the process of constructing new apartments even before the flooding started.
Hage talks about the importance of keeping residents in Spencer.
Hage says they hope to break ground on the new apartment complex this fall.
Habitat for Humanity was awarded $100,000 to build two single- family housing units; and CR Lloyd Associates, LLC of Sioux Falls was awarded $1 million for a 25-unit single family housing development.
