Lyon County (northwestiowanow.com) – Both O’Brien and Lyon County experienced some wind damage and minor flooding.

O’Brien County Emergency Manager Jared Johnson sent us a text message. He said, quote, “There was some flash flooding in several streets in Sheldon. Luckily there was room for the water to get out of town quickly. I am helping out Lyon County this week while their EMA is out of the office. The damage on HWY 60 was in Sioux County north of Hospers. Several fire departments were helping the Iowa DOT with picking up debris near the Highway.”

According to National Weather Service’s Peter Rodgers there are no plans for a survey team. The majority of evidence the NWS reviewed from photos, video, radar, and environmental data suggest downburst winds as the cause for Monday’s damage.
