Pocahontas, IA (northwestiowanow.com) — City of Pocahontas – Police Department have a message for folks traveling. Currently there is pilot car operations from north of Pocahontas to Hwy 3 and Hwy 4. Expect delays and long lines. Please use alternate routes if possible. This road construction will move north to Mallard.

Also, construction should be starting at Hwy 71 and Hwy 10 today. That will move eastward to Hwy 4. There will be delays and road closures.

If you use gravel roads to try to avoid this, remember rural roads are the most dangerous roads given speeds and visibility for the number of vehicles on them. The corn is high, so you won’t see the other vehicle until the last minute.

Patience and route planning are the best to get us through the construction.
