Washington, DC — For Iowa overall, 98.64% of the state is free of drought or abnormal dryness, while 1.36% remains abnormally dry (D0). There is no Moderate Drought (D1) or worse anywhere in Iowa. Those numbers are unchanged from the October 8th report.
The official U.S. Drought Monitor says conditions across Iowa remained largely unchanged this week. Some rain fell in Iowa, but amounts were generally not enough to produce additional drought improvement, especially with warmer-than-normal temperatures and limited rainfall across much of the Midwest.
Those locations in abnormally dry (D0) conditions include most of Kossuth County, with a small area also visible along the Iowa-Minnesota border in Osceola and Dickinson counties.
