(Northwestiowanow.com) — The National Weather Service in Des Moines confirmed that the storm that caused damage at the Palo Alto and Emmet County line Monday night, April 13, was a tornado. Radar information and observations on the ground indicate it was an EF1 tornado that reached wind speeds of 110 miles per hour. They will release more information as soon as possible.
KICD’s Anthony Gonzalez was at ground zero yesterday where he got details from Palo Alto County Emergency Management Director Kayla Hagen.
Tuesday, April 14, at 7:00 am neighbors showed up at Jonathan Kitzinger’s home to repair the roof where it had been ripped off, and clean up trees, outbuildings, and bins that were destroyed.
The tornado appears to have touched down North of Graettinger and proceeded on the ground for about four miles.
The National Weather Service office out of Sioux Falls did have information about a tornado Monday night in Clay County.
