Pocahontas, IA (northwestiowanow) — Pocahontas area voters will soon decide on a bond referendum aimed at funding critical facility improvements throughout the Pocahontas Area Community School District.
Superintendent Robert Boley says the $20 million general obligation bond referendum is the result of nearly a year of planning, facility assessments, and community input.
The district plans to relocate preschool classrooms to the elementary building, improve playground accessibility, update the nurse’s office, and renovate career and technical education spaces at the middle and high school.
The proposal would also include upgrades to the transportation facility, where Boley says larger buses no longer fit properly inside the building, along with air conditioning for the gymnasium and construction of a new family and consumer sciences area.
Boley says he believes the proposed projects address critical needs throughout the district.
He says the district’s outreach efforts have focused on making sure residents understand the proposal and have the information they need before casting their ballots.
More information, including project details, tax impact information, and frequently asked questions, is available at PACSD.org.
The measure will be on the Pocahontas ballot November 3rd.
