Des Moines, IA — There have been several accidents involving deer over the last week. Iowa DNR State Deer Biologist Jace Elliott says farmers have been able to get into the fields, and that’s one factor currently impacting deer movement.

It’s also deer breeding season, which is contributing to increased deer movement and activity.

Elliott says the weather is also expected to play a role in deer movement.

He also says the deer are most active when the sun is coming up and when it’s going down.

This is a good reminder for local motorists to stay alert. Over the past weekend, three separate motorcycle-versus-deer crashes occurred in two Iowa counties, resulting in one fatality and multiple injuries.
