Sheldon, IA (Northwest Iowa Now) — Three of the applicants for the roll of Sheldon Police Chief have been offered interviews. Two of the three are already members of the department.
Dan Crawley has been a patrol officer in town for the past five years. Prior to Sheldon he worked for the city of Glenwood, Pottawattamie county, and U.S. Border Patrol.
Eric Meinecke joined the Sheldon Police Department in 2019, became the city’s K-9 handler a short time later, and was promoted to Seargeant in 2022.
The third candidate is Patrick O’Donohoe, an investigator with the Tulare County California District Attorney’s office, who had previously served with the city of Tulare.
The next step in the process is interviews with the Mayor, City Council, City Clerk, and City Manager. Former Police chief Dan Burtch served four years. Meinecke has been serving as acting chief since July.
