Clay County, IA — A 15-year-old male from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, escaped injury after a rollover accident Wednesday afternoon in rural Clay County. The crash occurred at approximately 1:46 p.m. on July 15th near the intersection of 170th Avenue and 450th Street
According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, the teen was driving a 2023 Toyota Tacoma southbound on 170th Avenue when he pulled the emergency brake, causing the vehicle’s tires to skid. Authorities say the pickup crossed the center line while sliding, turned onto 450th Street, continued across the gravel roadway, and rolled into the southeast ditch, where it came to rest on its roof.
No injuries were reported in the crash. The vehicle sustained an estimated $25,000 in damage.
The driver was cited for Failure to Maintain Control, Violation of Instruction Permit, and Careless Driving. Assisting at the scene were Bud’s Service, Royal Fire and Rescue, Sioux Rapids Fire and Rescue, and Spencer Hospital.
