Spencer, IA (Dirt Racing Now Pod) — Here’s a look at the weekend racing schedule across southwest Minnesota and northwest Iowa.

The racing action begins Thursday night at Worthington Speedway in Worthington, Minnesota, where the Prairie Thunder Sprint Car Series takes to the track. Sprint cars will headline the evening as one of the region’s premier touring divisions makes its stop in Nobles County.

Saturday night returns the spotlight to Worthington Speedway for a regular night of racing. All seven weekly classes will be in action, including Worthington Sportsmen, Mini Mods, IMCA Hobby Stocks, IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Northern Sport Mods, Sport Compacts and IMCA Stock Cars. Hot laps are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. with racing beginning at 7 p.m.

Sunday is a quiet day on the local racing calendar, with no major weekly dirt-track programs scheduled in the immediate northwest Iowa and southwest Minnesota area. Most tracks will use the break to prepare for upcoming midweek racing events.

Looking ahead to next week, Clay County Fair Speedway in Spencer returns to action on Tuesday, July 21st, with Hall of Fame Nomination Night, followed by the Salute to Veterans Tour on Wednesday, July 22nd. We will have Trent Chinn back on the show next week ahead of this year’s running of the Salute to Veterans Tour at the Clay County Fair Speedway.

On the national racing scene, sprint car fans will have their eyes on Eldora Speedway, where the High Limit Racing Series will race this Wednesday and Thursday, July 15th and 16th, as part of Kings Royal week. The series sanctions the Double Down Duels on Wednesday and the $100k-to-win Joker’s Jackpot on Thursday, which will be LIVE on FS1 at 6PM, giving teams a chance to cash in before the World of Outlaws takeover. Action for the Outlaws begin on Friday night with the Knight Before the Kings Royal, followed by Saturday’s 43rd Kings Royal, one of the richest and most prestigious sprint car races in the country, paying $200k to the winner.
