Dickens, IA (northwestiowanow.com) — A pasture fire broke out this morning on the north side of a residence located at 2610 330th Street. The fire, which began near a burn pile, spread quickly but was contained after a coordinated effort between Spencer Fire and Fostoria Fire-Rescue.

At approximately 9:13 a.m., emergency services were dispatched to the scene. Arriving by 9:29 a.m. and immediately began working to extinguish the flames spreading along the pasture behind the residence.

Fostoria Fire-Rescue units arrived shortly afterward and focused their efforts on putting out the fire directly behind the house, along with the burn pile that was determined to be the fire’s origin.

No injuries were reported, and by 10:10 a.m., the scene was cleared and under control.

Officials are reminding residents to exercise caution when burning, particularly in light of the ongoing drought conditions and lack of precipitation. Grass and fields remain highly susceptible to fire, and checking the weather before starting any outdoor fires is strongly advised.
