Spencer, Iowa (NorthwestIowaNow.com) — A Spencer man has been sentenced to prison for 17 years on January 31 after he was convicted by a Jury last August in a federal court in Sioux City. 43-year-old Oscar Navarro-Zepeda was convicted of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
Evidence was presented at the trial that after a search warrant was issued last April 2024, officers seized 33 pounds of meth, an AR-15 style .223 caliber rifle, two loaded magazines, more ammunition and $17,932 in cash.
Navorro-Zepeda must serve five years of supervised release after he serves his sentence. There is no parole in the federal system. He is currently in custody of the United States Marshal until he can be transported to federal prison.
