Armstrong, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – The Class 1A Boys District Quarterfinals were played last night. Big Country 107.7 brought you a 9-County Area contest from Armstrong as North Union hosted Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn.

It was North Union who had the 2-point edge after the first quarter 16-14. Both teams continued to score at a high rate in the 2nd, with the Warriors outscoring the Hawks 22-17 to lead by 7 at the half. North Union grew that lead in the 3rd as well, leading 56-46 going into the 4th. Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn gave their best effort to come back, outscoring the Warriors 20-13 down the stretch, but ultimately came up short, losing 69-66.

Khael Jones was impressive in the win for North Union, scoring 31 points. Caden Walders and Grady Madden each were in double-digits for the Warriors.

Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn had 4 scorers in double-figures, led by Isaac Scheirholtz’s 22 in the loss.

North Union advances to the District Semifinals where they will take on top seeded MMCRU in Marcus.

The Hawks will finish the season at 8-14 with the District Quarterfinal loss.
