Fort Dodge, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – An Estherville Lincoln Central graduate has been inducted into the National Junior College Athletic Association Coaches Hall of Fame.

Luke Moffitt was a 1998 graduate of Estherville where he won the 1997 State Championship before wrestling for Iowa Central. Moffitt had a lot of success at the JuCo level, winning a national title for the Tritons at 141. From there, Moffitt joined the Iowa Hawkeyes where he a two-year starter and named Outstanding Wrestler in 2002.

Moffitt talked about some of the lessons he learned over the course of his wrestling career.

Moffitt’s success at the JuCo and the Division I level really helped him to connect with his athletes when he took the Iowa Central Wrestling Coach job.

In over 20 years of coaching the Tritons, Moffitt has amassed a 172-57 record and won 7 National Titles and now finds himself in the NJCAA Coaches Hall of Fame.

Iowa Central took 5th at nationals this season, which would be great for many programs, but the Tritons have higher expectations.

Northwest Iowa Now asked Moffitt about the state of wrestling in Iowa.
