Des Moines, IA (northwestiowanow.com) — March was a particularly active month, characterized by blizzard conditions early in the month and thunderstorms during the second half. These weather events resulted in significant precipitation across many areas of the state.

State Climatologist Justin Glisan analyzed the data for the “North 1” COOP station in Spencer.

Glisan informs us that we can expect a period of calm weather, with no indications of severe conditions over the next couple of weeks.

Glisan believes that this severe weather season is unlikely to be as active as last year’s record-breaking season.
