Estherville, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – One of the KICD 9-County area’s most successful coaches has moved on from his position with the Estherville Lincoln Central girls Basketball team.

Don Martindale was a coach for both Spencer and Estherville Lincoln Central, and 2 weeks ago, a press release came from ELC stating that Martindale was stepping down as the coach of Estherville Lincoln Central’s girls’ basketball team.

Martindale joined us on the KICD Sports Beacon podcast to look back on his time at both schools.

Martindale knew coaching was his patch from a young age.

Martindale was asked how he’s seen the game evolve over his career

When asked about his time at ELC, Martindale highlighted the versatility of Estherville Lincoln Central’s student athletes.

The graduating class of 2025 had a ton of success in multiple athletics, especially basketball. Estherville Lincoln Central made 4 tournaments in 4 years with that class, one in which they brought home a State Title.
