Spencer, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – The Spencer Boys Soccer team hosted West of Sioux City in Non-Conference play on Friday night.
Nolan McCusker came in to Friday’s match with only one goal on the year, but it didn’t take a long time for him to get his offense going on Friday, scoring 2 goals in the second five minutes of action.
The Tigers would have plenty of opportunities throughout the rest of the second half, constantly breaking through the Wolverine back line. Camden Mosher was tearing up the right side, getting off several shots, but unable to get one across the goal line.
West’s opportunities were limited, although they were able to get some number advantages, didn’t get many shots off.
The score remained 2-0 going into the half.
Spencer would erupt in the second half. Camden Mosher finally knocked a shot through in the match’s 18th minute, extending the lead to 3.
Less than 9 minutes later, Cayden Brewer netted the Tigers 4th goal on the night.
Nolan McCusker made it a hat trick on the night with a 63rd minute goal to give Spencer a 5-0 lead.
Cayden Brewer scored his second goal of the night a little over a minute later, his 6th on the year which drew him even with Camden Mosher for the team lead.
Mosher only let him remain even for less than 7 minutes as he scored his second goal on the night and 7th on the year in the 71st minute.
The Tigers were able to rotate in several reserves, including a second and third goalkeeper as they cruised to a 7-0 win.
An injury riddled West High team now falls to 2-4 on the year with their 4th straight loss after a 2-0 start. Up next for the Wolverines is a road trip to Council Bluffs to play Lincoln High School on Tuesday.
The Tigers are back on the road for a NWISL match against Sheldon/Sibley-Ocheyedan/South O’Brien on Monday. Spencer is now 6-2-1 on the year, winning 4 of their last 5.
