Des Moines, IA (northwestiowanow.com) — State climatologist Justin Glisan reports that October wrapped up much warmer and drier than average, according to the final tallies.

As for precipitation, Glisan notes that rain showers were few and far throughout October.

Glisan highlighted an interesting observation from the cooperative weather data collected here in Spencer.

Looking ahead to November, Glisan says the first half of the month is trending warmer with a drier pattern following this weekend’s precipitation. Toward the end of the month, however, a wetter signal begins to emerge. La Niña is starting to show up in all the outlooks, Glisan noted.
