SPENCER, IA (Northwestiowanow) — The Shayla Bee Fund welcomed two new families into its program during its annual craft and bake sale.
On Saturday, December 13, the nonprofit held its holiday open house and fundraiser at the Shayla Bee Family Center in Spencer. The organization provides financial assistance and emotional support to families with children facing serious medical challenges.
The open house gave supporters the opportunity to meet two new families introduced into the program and learn more about the organization’s mission.
Founder Jerry Faulkner says one of the families came from Royal.

Emmet is scheduled for spinal surgery soon to address the fluid around his spinal cord. The other family introduced was Wes and Lindsay Radunz of Spirit Lake, whose daughter Evelyn was born prematurely and continues to overcome digestive issues.

The two new families mark a milestone for the program, bringing the total number of families served to nearly 300.
