Milford, IA (KICD) – Matt Groenewold had the call for Emmetsburg at Okoboji in Girls and Boys Basketball on Big Country 107.7 on Thursday night.

In the Girls Contest, Okoboji jumped out to an 8-4 1st quarter lead. Emmetsburg would close the gap in the 2nd Quarter, only down one going into the locker room. It was another back-and-forth 3rd quarter as Emmetsburg took the lead going in to the final 8 minutes 24-23. The E-Hawks would pull away in the 4th, coming away with the interconference win 41-33.

Emmetsburg was led by Rachel Schany with 13 points. Ava Packenbush led the Pioneers with 14 on the night. Okoboji falls to 2-9 on the season while Emmetsburg improves to 7-4.

For the Boys Contest, Emmetsburg jumped all over Okoboji, outscoring the Pioneers 23-4 in the 1st quarter. The Okoboji offense got going a little more in the 2nd quarter, but still trailed by a big 39-18 margin going into the half. Okoboji would close the gap to 13 going into the 4th quarter before Emmetsburg opened the gap once again, winning the game 63-44.

Emmetsburg’s Carter Hudson scored 17 to lead the way while Landon Duvall scored 12 for Okoboji. Emmetsburg is now 7-3 on the season while Okoboji drops to 2-8.

The E-Hawks will get back to Twin Lakes Conference play on Monday when they travel to West Bend-Mallard. Okoboji is back in action for a Siouxland Conference game on Friday at MOC-Floyd Valley.
