Spencer, Ia (KICD) – The Spencer Girls and Boys Basketball teams took on Cherokee Tuesday night in the Fieldhouse.
The Tiger girls got off to a rough start in their contest.
Cherokee led 13-2 after the first quarter and padded on to that lead with a 19 point 2nd.
At the break, the Braves led Spencer 32-9. The Tigers were able to come out with a lot more energy in the 3rd Quarter.
Spencer would end up outscoring Cherokee in the 4th quarter, but the deficit was too large.
Spencer was led in scoring by Addison Hoben’s 9 while Cherokee’s Addy Wolfswinkel hit 5 3-Pointers en route to 22 points.
The win improves Cherokee to 10-3 on the year and 3-2 in the Lakes Conference while Spencer falls to 0-11 and 0-3 in the League.
The Spencer Tiger Boys got off to another slow start.
The Braves were able to hold that lead through the second Quarter.
It was a rough 3rd Quarter for Spencer, as Cherokee grew their lead to 15.
Cherokee was able to answer every Spencer run in the 4th Quarter as the teams traded baskets.
Cherokee had three scorers in Double Figures while Cael Bruning led the Tigers with 18.
This is the 3rd win in a row for the Braves while Spencer has dropped their 3rd straight. Spencer falls to 4-5 and 1-2 in the Lakes while Cherokee improves to 5-7 and 2-3 in the Conference.
