Sanborn, IA (northwestiowanow) — A Spencer teenager was injured in a two-vehicle collision Tuesday in Sanborn.

According to a report from the Sanborn Police Department, 16-year-olds Hunter Daggett of Hartley and Rayne Tesch of Spencer were allegedly driving erratically from Sibley to Sanborn before entering the community on October 20.

Police say Daggett was driving a 2008 Pontiac and Tesch was operating a 2011 Chevrolet SUV. Authorities say Tesch attempted to pull alongside Daggett’s vehicle as he turned onto West 4th Street. As Daggett attempted to turn left into an alley, the two vehicles collided.

The impact pushed Dagget’s Pontiac into a nearby utility pole, breaking it.

Tesch was transported by ambulance to Sanford Sheldon Hospital. A passenger in Daggett’s vehicle was taken to the hospital by a parent. Daggett was not injured.

O’Brien County court records show both Daggett and Tesch were later charged with Careless Driving, a scheduled violation.
