Spencer, Ia (KICD) – The Emmetsburg E-Hawks mowed through the 2023 Class 1A District 2 Football Slate…and they bring the most production back.

Coach Ben Thomsen talked about some of his players who have showed the most improvement coming into the 2024 season.

In 2023, Emmetsburg outscored the district on an average of 43.6-3.4. The Defense only allowed a combined 17 points against district foes. Coach Thomsen says the simplicity of the defense helps the E-Hawk athletes play freely.

Sioux Central went 2-3 in the district last year and was only a combined 13 points from flipping a couple of those losses. Coach Brandon Goodchild hopes the players use the close, late season losses in 2023, as motivation in 2024.

Goodchild talked about some of his key athletes going into the 2024 season.

Pocahontas Area turned in a nice 4-5 season last year with a 3-2 District Record. PAC loses a lot though from last year’s team, and Head Coach Mike Ehn says there will be many growing moments this season.

Ehn discussed what he expects the district to look like this year.

Big Country 107.7 will have coverage of Emmetsburg’s opener against Central Lyon/George-Little Rock on August 30th, Sioux Central at Emmetsburg on September 27th, and the regular season finale when Emmetsburg travels to Manson-Northwest Webster.
