Spencer, Ia (KICD) – This is your Friday Night Football wrap up.
On News Radio 102.5 and AM 1240 KICD, the Spencer Tigers hit the road to play Webster City in a non-district match up.
After opening the game with a long drive that ended in a missed field goal, the Spencer defense forced Webster City to punt from their own endzone. This setup outstanding field position for the Tigers, who this time, capitalized in the red zone.
Webster City would hit back, scoring on a 56-yard Touchdown run by Jackson Griffith and tying with the extra point.
The Lynx would intercept Bruning on the next drive, which they would cash in on when Spin Back Eli Estlund found Carter Mickelson in the endzone for a 17-yard Touchdown pass. The extra point would make it 14-7 in favor of Webster City.
The Tigers got a much needed score on the next drive when Miles Robbins broke free.
The extra point tied the game at 14, and that is what the score would be going into the half.
After the Tigers forced a much needed 3 and out to start the second half, Spencer strung together a 9 play, 59 yard drive, finished with a Cael Bruning to Ryan Matthiesen Touchdown pass.
With Spencer leading 21-14, Webster City would line up for a 4th down conversion in their own territory. Before the Lynx could snap the ball, the entire stadium went dark when the Lights went out. After a delay, the lights would be brought back on, and we resumed play with Webster City attempting an all-important 4th down conversion. A botched snap would doom the play, and the Tigers took over deep inside Lynx territory.
The Tigers would be forced to take a field goal try in order to make it a two possession game.
After the Vreeman Field Goal to make it 24-14, Webster City would try to mount a drive, but Vreeman stepped in between Estlund and a receiver.
The interception would seal up the game, and Spence picked up their first win of the season, 24-14.
The Tigers ran the ball 50 times for 247 yards on the night. Miles Robbins led Spencer with 117 yards and a Touchdown while Cael Bruning ran the football 25 times over the course of the night, for 77 yards and a Touchdown.
Spencer will host Spirit Lake next week at Dale Norton Field.

Alta-Aurelia got off to a good start with a Camden Rinehart 8-yard touchdown run. The successful PAT made it 7-0 with 5:06 left in the 1st quarter.
The Hawks would respond with a couple of Touchdowns of their own… one toward the end of the 1st quarter and the other with 7:03 left in the 2nd. Both were James Gellerman rushing scores.
Alta-Aurelia would tie the game up at 14 late in the second quarter after a nice drive that was capped off by a Camden Reinert touchdown pass to Peyton Meyer.
It was all Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn in the 2nd half though. Jack Mastbergen capped off a 41-yard drive with an 11-yard Touchdown run. The successful 2 point conversion made it 22-14 in favor of the Hawks.
Gellerman would break free late in the 3rd quarter for a 40-yard touchdown run. After the PAT, HMS led 29-14.
Mastbergen would get himself a touchdown pass to Jackson Vogt in the 4th quarter to cap things off, and Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn rolled to their first win of the season, 36-14.
