Storm Lake, IA (northwestiowanow.com) — The Storm Lake Fire Department will host its third annual Open House event for the community on October 26th from 12-3 p.m. at the fire station, 820, Onedia Street in Storm Lake. 

Everyone is encouraged to come. Storm Lake Fire Department mascot “Sparky” will be on hand to greet young visitors. Guests will have a chance to meet their local firefighters, tour the children’s fire safety education house, view live demonstrations such as the Jaws of Life tool used to save victims trapped in vehicles, and see the new live fire training unit.

Visitors will also be able to tour the station, check out the firefighter gear, and see the fire trucks up close. Important information on house fire prevention and safety will as be available at the event.

The Open House is part of the department’s October Fire Prevention Month. This event is designed to raise awareness for fire safety.
