Fort Dodge, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – The State Cross Country Championships will be ran Friday and Saturday in Fort Dodge. There are 4 teams in all from the KICD 9-County Area going with their whole groups to the State meet at Kennedy Park in Fort Dodge.
Sioux Central has two of those teams in their Boys and Girls. Coach Kelsey Miller knew they had something special this season.
A big deal for the Rebels this season has been an emphasis on team running.
Sioux Central’s biggest competition this season in many meets, including the State Qualifier was Alta-Aurelia in the Girls races. Coach Ariel Huseman was thrilled to see the Warriors come away with the State Qualifying team title after dropping a few close meets with the Rebels.
A lot of both the girls’ and boys’ athletes on Alta-Aurelia’s Cross Country Team were multi-sport athletes.
After a State Runner-Up Finish in 2023, the Okoboji Boys now find themselves in an underdog position.
That was Coach Jacob Evenson who says his team is more than prepared for the atmosphere at the State Meet.
The State Cross Country Meet begins Friday and goes through Saturday.
