Spencer, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – The Round of 16 was played last night in all 7 classes in High School Football with 4 KICD 9-County Area teams still alive.
Spencer hosted ADM in the Class 4A Playoffs.
ADM bolted out to a 7-0 lead after a quick 69-yard drive that ended in a 7-yard Touchdown sprint by Hudson Shull.
The Tigers would respond early in the second quarter when Cael Bruning found Jack Berends on a Touchdown Pass.
Shull would find the endzone on the following drive again for ADM, this time breaking free for 24 yards, making it 14-7 after the extra point.
Spencer came back with another Cael Bruning Touchdown Pass to Jack Berends. The extra point was missed though, and Spencer trailed 14-13. That was the score going into the half.
ADM was able to knock through a field goal after a long drive in the 3rd Quarter and led 17-13 when Ethan Ashee hit his 33-yarder.
The Fourth Quarter was all ADM in a big way. After scoring early in the 4th on a third Hudson Shull Touchdown run, ADM would end up scoring 3 times in the last 4 minutes, ending the game in a 43-13 route.
Hudson Shull finished the game with 213 yards and 4 Touchdowns. Shull would also complete 4 of his 12 passes for 89 yards on the night. He was complimented well by Jonathon Hatchet, who ran the ball 17 times for 95 yards.
Spencer was outgained 417-284 on the night. Jack Berends ran the ball 8 times for 61 yards, catching 3 passes for 39 yards, and 2 receiving Touchdowns. Berends also completed a 37-yard pass to Ryan Matthiesen on the evening.
Spencer finishes the season at 6-4 overall and 4-1 in Class 4A District 1.
ADM improves to 8-2 on the year and will advance to play Lewis Central in the Class 4A Quarterfinals. ADM was also 4-1 in Class 4A District 5.

MMCRU was unable to keep a 2-score lead over West Hancock in the Class A Round of 16, losing 28-21. The Royals season ends at 7-4.
In Class 1A on Big Country 107.7 Friday night, Emmetsburg lost a heartbreaker in the Round of 16 to South Hardin 27-20. The E-Hawks wrap up 2024 at 8-3.
Spirit Lake is the final team out of the KICD 9-County Area still alive after outscoring Osage 35-7 in the second half to win 42-14. Spirit Lake is now 10-1 on the year and will host North Fayette Valley for the Quarterfinals.
