Marshalltown, Ia (Northwest Iowa Now) – The IGHSAU State Swimming and Diving Championships were swam this past Friday and Saturday in Marshalltown. The Spencer Area Swim Team had 6 events competing.

The Spencer 200 Yard Medley Relay made up of Halle Sears, Ella Kasperbauer, Lilly Gross, and Ava Vogt placed 11th with a time of 1:54.04.

Halle Sears would compete in the 200 Yard Individual Medley. Sears had the 6th fastest time in the prelims, clocking 2:09.62. Sears would go 2:08.94 in the Finals to finish 3rd.

Sears went 58.64 in the 100 Yard Butterfly Prelims to qualify for finals with the 7th fastest time. Sears would once again drop time in the finals, swimming 48.39 to finish 4th.

Vogt, Kasperbauer, Gross, and Sears teamed up again for the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay. The Tigers would take 28th in that race with a time of 1:45.61.

In the 100 Yard Breaststroke Prelims, Spencer’s Lilly Gross had the 11th fastest time at 1:06.68, qualifying for finals. Ella Kasperbauer took 28th with time of 1:09.12. For the Finals, Gross placed 12th with a time of 1:07.9.

The Team State Champion was Dowling Catholic of West Des Moines, scoring 260 points. Northwest of Waukee took 2nd with 243, Cedar Falls 3rd at 220, Bettendorf 4th with 216, Ames 5th with 191, Sioux City Metro 6th with 127, Pleasant Valley 7th with 116, and West of Iowa City 8th with 89.

Spencer finished 16th with 48 points out of the 30 competing teams.
