Sioux City, IA — 57-year-old David Specketer of Emmetsburg was sentenced to 60 months in federal prison for possessing methamphetamine with intent to distribute near Emmetsburg High School. Specketer pled guilty in November 2024 after being arrested on April 15, 2024, when law enforcement found him with about an ounce of methamphetamine at his residence, located within 1,000 feet of the school.

Specketer, a convicted felon, had a prior federal conviction for methamphetamine distribution in 2013. In addition to prison time, he was sentenced to eight years of supervised release and ordered to pay $10,000 in fines and attorney fees.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Patrick T. Greenwood and investigated by local and state agencies, including the Emmetsburg Police Department and the Iowa DCI Laboratory.
