Graettinger, IA (NorthwestIowaNow) — Residents in the Graettinger-Terril and Ruthven-Ayrshire School Districts are growing frustrated as questions remain about financial discrepancies first disclosed in June.
The school board was expected to discuss audit findings Tuesday night, but the meeting was canceled. Superintendent Marshall Lewis said the district has not yet received the audit. It remains unclear when the audit will be completed or when the board will next review the findings.
In a June 3rd public statement, the district announced it had hired an independent third party to review and reconcile financial transactions involving sharing agreements between Graettinger-Terril and Ruthven-Ayrshire dating back to 2022.
District officials also said they are strengthening financial oversight through improved documentation, additional review procedures, and more detailed financial reports to the school board. School leaders noted that rising costs and declining enrollment have increased the importance of financial accountability and said updates will be provided as the review continues.
