Spencer IA (Northwest Iowa Now)- a Spencer man was found guilty of federal meth and gun charges. On August 22nd 42-year-old Oscar Navarro -Zepeda of Spencer was convicted by a jury in federal court in Sioux City. Navarro -Zepeda was convicted of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine session of a firearm by a prohibited person possession of a firearm and the furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
Evidence at the trial show that between April 2021 and April 2023 Navarro -Zepeda Was involved in a conspiracy that distributed more than 500 grams of methamphetamine in the northern district Iowa. Evidence gathered from a search warrant of Navarro -Zepeda Residence in Spencer lead to law enforcement seizing over 30 lbs. of methamphetamine which he intended to distribute in and around the area.
Law enforcement also seized more than $17,000, a 22-caliber rifle with loaded magazines, box of ammunition and drug paraphernalia. Navarro -Zepeda will be sentenced before United States District court chief judge Leonard T strand.
Navarro -Zepeda faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years imprisonment and a possible maximum life sentence imprisonment and a 10,000,000 fine.
